At the request of the Dayton City Commission, The Brothers of the Dayton Alumni Chapter, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. attended their regular commission meeting on Wednesday November 16, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.

Due to a prior commitment, Brother Polemarch Bradley requested that Vice Polemarch Brother Brian Martin serve as spokesperson. Brother Martin invited the members in attendance to join him at the podium. Highlights presented included the chapter celebrating its 70th anniversary on December 17, 2016, the city hosting the 2016 East Central Province Council meeting April 7 – 10, encouraging Dunbar HS seniors through donating a shirt and tie to each young man, supporting the Men of Color Initiative in partnership with Brother Commissioner Mims, strengthening families through the SIDS initiative and other support initiatives, and very recently, working with recently initiated Brother Deputy Chief Mark Ecton on recruitment of Minority prospects between 20 – 34 years old for the police force. The crowning achievement of the Dayton Alumni Chapter in 2016 was winning the East Central Province Chapter of the Year.

Mayor Whaley, Brother Commissioner Mims and Commissioners Joseph and Shaw thanked the Chapter for its accomplishments. Brother Commissioner Mims noted that whenever he needs assistance in the city, the brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi are always there to support the community.
